My dog has sampled all of the Honest Kitchen dog food. Davie is a 8 yr./85 pd. chocolate lab with some intestinal issues. He walks and plays outside daily. How much food do I give him? HK is expensive and I don't want to waste any. Thanks!

Hey Ricky!
Nice to hear from you again! You must have been reading my mind; I was going to write an article about this very topic. All Honest Kitchen food is great. However, if money is a concern I would go with Honest Kitchen Keen. It is the least expensive in their food line but is packed with the same nutritional benefits as their other food.

As far as quantity is concerned, every dog is different. Below is the chart found on the Honest Kitchen site to use as a general guideline. However, not every dog is the same, so you may have to increase or decrease these numbers. Most dogs will fall into the less active category unless they are working, competing or puppy dogs.

Dog's Weight:-----Less Active Dog-------More Active Dog

Up to 10 lbs------1/2 Cup-------------1 Cup
Up to 30 lbs------1 Cup---------------2 Cups
Up to 50 lbs------2 Cups--------------4 Cups
Up to 70 lbs------2 1/4 Cups----------4 1/2 Cups
Up to 90 lbs------2 3/4 Cups----------5 1/2 Cups

I hope this helps answer your question. I am so glad to hear that you are making the switch. I know that you'll see an improvement in Davie's gastro-intestinal issues and over-all general health. Please let us know what you observe in the coming months; I would love to let our readers know.

Thanks,
Matt
